Counselors Wanted: If you are interested in being a Counselor for any of the 100+ Merit Badges, please contact Merit Badge Coordinator Donna Glover via email ddg216@aol.com or stop by the sign-up table on a Tuesday evening.

Did you know the Troop has a recommended sequence for Scouts to take merit badge courses? Take a look the Troop Handbook on the Troop website, found under Documents and Forms, to see what history has taught us about age-appropriate merit badges.

Got Partials? Scouts with partials in any merit badge, are encouraged to stop by the sign-up table before Tuesday night Troop meetings and express interest to Merit Badge Coordinator Donna Glover in getting a class organized.

new Chess Merit Badge: Earn the Chess Merit Badge (New 2011) in one afternoon, Sunday, May 20, at 1:00 – 4:00 pm at SJD (room TBA). Chess club members (e.g., school) can bring score sheets for instant credit and help with the class. Contact ASM Stephen Rasey (raseysm@wiserways.com) for more information.

UPDATE: The Houston Museum of Natural Science offers many great Merit Badge opportunities this summer. Follow either of these links for a complete list of the classes offered: flyer (PDF) or hmns.org, select "education" then "scouts" then "summer scouts". Or you can call 713-639-4629. Please remember, you must receive Scoutmaster approval before taking any Eagle required Badges.

UPDATE: Pets Merit Badge: There is an advancement session in lieu of a troop meeting this coming Tuesday, May 15. We will have our final meeting on the Pets Merit Badge. Be sure to bring your filled-out worksheet and "evidence" that you have been caring for your pet, such as photos or video. We will start at 7:00 and should be done by 7:45 p.m.
