Summer Adventure and Leadership Opportunities We have a number of open slots for our Philmont, Idaho and our New Mexico treks for age/rank eligible Scouts, where adventure and leadership opportunities abound. NYLT grads should consider serving in a leadership role in our 2012 summer camp program. Ask Scoutmaster Bill Helfand, or Troop Committee Chair Mallory Caldwell, They both also know about limited financial assistance that may be available; ask in confidence.

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) offers 2 courses in June 2012: Course 1 is June 03- 09; and Course 2 is June 11-17. See the eligibility requirements on the SHAC website under Council Training events, and consult with the Scoutmaster for approval. Online registration begins mid January. More information . The Troop will reimburse the cost of NYLT upon successful completion of the course.

NYLT Grads Improve Self Confidence, Presentation Skills at Trainer's EDGE-XTREME. July 7-11 For Troop youth leaders who have completed NYLT - a special Trainer's EDGE five-day training program at Camp Strake beginning Saturday, July 7. Participants learn how to prepare effective presentations using various media styles which will WOW your audience. As you improve your self-confidence and presentation skills, you and your teammates will enjoy the benefits of outstanding activities. more >
