When and why is Troop 55 going to Blue Ridge Scout Reservation?Troop 55 will go to Blue Ridge Scout Reservation, southwest of Roanoke, VA, in the Blue Ridge Mountains, June 20 -26, 1999. Back to topWhy should I send my son to Scout summer camp? Summer camp with Troop 55 is a great opportunity for fun, and an important part of the Troop 55 program. A week of Scout summer camp is like an entire year of weekend campouts. For younger or less experienced Boy Scouts: This experience is especially valuable for Scouts who have not previously gone to Boy Scout summer camp with the Troop and Scouts who have not yet achieved the rank of Star. Scout summer camp is different from most camps. Your son will have the opportunity to earn merit badges and rank advancement, sleep in a tent, and work in a patrol of about 8 Scouts from the Troop. He'll get a first-hand opportunity to work on the points of the Scout Law and learn about leadership. For experienced Scouts age 13 and up: Blue Ridge offers excellent High Adventure programs, which will challenge and interest your son with backpacking, rafting, and other experiences at which he can apply his Scout skills.
